2nd Transnational Staff Training – Learning Activities Meeting at Çukurova University

Updated: Nov 8

From October 21st to 23rd, partners from Turkey, Lithuania, Latvia, and North Macedonia gathered at Çukurova University for the second Learning Activities Meeting within the Erasmus+ project “Supporting Children with Autism through Physical Education.”

The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration among partners and explore innovative ways to support children with autism through physical activity, digital tools, and inclusive teaching practices.

Day 1 – Exploring Virtual Reality for Inclusion

The meeting began with a hands-on experience using the VR platform developed as part of the project. Participants had the opportunity to test the application and discuss its potential to enhance motor coordination, attention, and social interaction among children with autism.

This session encouraged partners to share ideas and reflect on how virtual reality can be effectively integrated into educational and therapeutic contexts, supporting inclusive learning in an engaging, motivating way.

Day 2 – Visit to Yüreğir Special Education Application School

On the second day, participants visited the Yüreğir Special Education Application School, where they observed inclusive teaching practices and learned more about the educational approaches used with students.

Together with the pupils, partners tested the VR application in real classroom settings, experiencing firsthand how virtual environments can promote learning, focus, and joy.

It was an inspiring and emotional day, demonstrating how innovative tools can create new opportunities for inclusion and participation in special education.

Day 3 – Reflection, Innovation, and Cultural Exchange

The final day was dedicated to reflection and planning for future implementation. Partners shared insights and feedback on the week’s learning experiences and discussed how the developed VR tools could be adapted and applied in schools and special education programs.

Later, the group explored the Çukurova University campus, discovering its research and innovation initiatives in inclusive education.

In the afternoon, partners visited Mersin, a beautiful coastal city, where they enjoyed cultural experiences and exchanged impressions from the week.

The day concluded with a farewell dinner, celebrating teamwork, learning, and friendship, and expressing sincere gratitude to the Turkish hosts for their warm hospitality and excellent organization.

Building Bridges for Inclusion

The Learning Activities Meeting was a meaningful milestone in advancing inclusive, technology-supported education for children with autism.

Through collaboration, creativity, and shared vision, partners continue to build bridges between innovation, education, and inclusion — ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. 💙
